SBAC-Sponsored Study Shows Public Employers Saved Billions
from Workers Compensation Reform
The Small Business Action Committee sponsored a study
showing that California public sector employers have
been among the biggest beneficiaries of the workers
compensation reforms passed in 2004. The study was released in September 2007.
According to the study, which was conducted from SBAC
by Dr. Steven Frates of the Center for Government Analysis,
state and local governments have saved $1.87 billion in workers compensation premiums and costs
since SB 899 was enacted.
